A Day at Sea

In our itinerary today was listed as “Scenic Cruising the Inside Passage”. The early part of the day was in fairly open water so not a lot to see but later in the day we started crusing through more enclosed waters with views to the heavily forested landscape on either side of the ship.

We woke fairly late ( around 9am) and decided to head up to the Crows Nest lounge for a light breakfast of coffee and croissants. The Crows Nest is right at the front of the ship with a great 180 degree view of our passage. Back in the room after breakfast we found the Room Steward had tidied the room and had become creative with the towels. We had a little towel animal ( dog?) and a couple of chocolates on the bed.

After our late breakfast we went for a nice walk around the Promenade deck of the ship, 7 laps for me and another for Neil. It was amusing to look at my exercise app to see the route my walk had taken me…

After that we had a light lunch of very tasty breadrolls up on the Seaview Pool deck and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and catching up on our blogs. Tonight was a “Dressy Night”, so we spiffied up a bit and headed up to the Main Dining room for our dinner. This is the general dining room on the ship, it’s huge and covers two floors at the aft end of the ship. On arrival they ask if you “want to make new friends tonight” or if you prefer to sit alone. We figure we have enough friends so chose the latter option. We were seated immediately and settled in to enjoy our very tasy dinner from the “Gala” menu. I had a lovely Jumbo shrimp cocktail, followed by a rack of lamb and fininshed with a delicious dutch apple tart, yumm!

Tonightthere was a “Captains Gteeting” scheduled in the ” Main Stage” – he introduced various members of the crew and welcomed us aboard. This was followed immediately by a dance production called Move that we really enjoyed ( much to our surprise). There were only six dancers, but the lighting effects and their talent were excellent.

After the show we found our way to the Ocean Bar for a nightcap and thoroughly enjoyed the mellow sounds from “Third Avenue West” who play largely jazz style tunes. However they were very happy to accept requests and did an excellent job on “Play That Funky Music” – which they said they had never played before!

An so to bed, very excited for our first port of call in Alaska tomorrow. And finally getting to that 50 States milestone!
