I had the sort of night I always have when I’ve set the alarm for an early morning wake up, woke up almost every hour during the night. I was a bit surprised that it seemed to be 2 am for more than one time check – until this morning when Neil read the message on his phone that we had been put back to standard time over night! We had no idea that they dropped daylight savings time this weekend!
It was a bonus as it gave us an extra hour of ( broken) sleep. We caught the 5.20 am train to Arlanda Airport and checked in for our flight to Helsinki.
Only a little plane which meant there were just the two of us together, always nice.

The plane was full so we were a little surprised when we arrived at the baggage carousel to find only one other person there. The place was like a tomb! Eventually a few other people arrived and when the carousel started a total of 8 bags came off!! It was bizarre! If only arrivals halls were always like it.

Our flights were on seperate bookings so we had to collect our bags and recheck them for our next flight, which didnt leave for another 7 hours!
We spent some time looking at the airport shops and then head for the lounge. The Finnair lounge was also quiet at that hour but it’s gradually filled up during the day.

We had breakfast… Then lunch… Then afternoon tea. And we have another hour until we need to go to the gate.
So our European part of the trip is at an end. A few days in Japan before we head home. We’ve enjoyed the trip although it’s been challenging for Neil this time with his sore knees. We’re both hoping that he is more comfortable next year when we head back to Europe again.
