Back to Omaha..and Home!

We enjoyed the “cooked to order” breakfast in the Embassy suites this monring. The breakfasts do vary a lot from hotel chain to chain, Holiday Inn Express have their cinnamon rollls, and the hanptons have a really nice selectio of fancy smoothies but the Embassy suites do cooked to order eggs. Neil enjoyed the option of poached eggs, but I’m always happy with scrambled.

We only had a short drive to the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum which is southwest of Omaha. Alog the way we passed some spectacular rain clouds – amazing to see the rain fall and then twist sideways in the wind!

They had a fabulous array of aircraft and spac memorabilia. Purely coincidentally we came to see it today on Patriots Day, which also happened to be 9/11. The flags were all at half mast but there was a crowd of veteran air force personnel lining up to see the museum and to enjoy the function that was happening today.

It was only a hop skip and jump up the road to my last chance of retail therapy – Nebraska Crossing Outlets. We didn’t find much though, as i think we’re actually a bit “shopped out”!

Our last stop was the Lewis & Clark National Trail headquarters which is on the bank of the Missouri river in Omaha downtown. Here there is a fabulous pedestrian bridge called Bob ( seriously, it’s name is Bob!) and the “thin to do” is to walk across the bridge and take a phot of yourself with one foot in Nebraska and one foot in Iowa.. it’s called Bobbing…so of course we had to do that.

Tome to head back to the airport to leave our hardy Dodge Caravan.. spattered with mud and dust and lots of grasshoppers stuck in the grill. Before checking in for our 2 hour flight to Dallas. Nice to be right at the front at the plane again and first off at the end.

at Omaha

In Dallas we trekked around the terminals on the airtrain to visit a selection of Dalls Cowboys Pro Shops – Liams is a HUGE Cowboys fan and we’d promised to find him some clothes. We woke him up to get his preferences!

Now we’re in the American Airlines Flagship Lounge at terminal D waiting for the loooong flight home. It’s been such a great trip…but were already planning the next one. Bon Voyage America…we’ll see you next year!
